No-Gi submission grappling
Luta Livre in Munich
Brazilian submission wrestling without the gi: explosive takedowns, tight control and fast finishes – including leg locks.
What is Luta Livre?
Luta Livre (Portuguese for “free fight”) was born in Brazil as the no-gi rival of Jiu-Jitsu. It combines wrestling, ground control and submissions – and was a cornerstone of vale tudo, the forerunner of modern MMA.
Because there is no gi to grab, Luta Livre is fast, athletic and very direct. It is the perfect complement to BJJ and a must for anyone interested in MMA.

Frequently asked questions
Can I train Luta Livre without prior experience?
Yes. The techniques are built up step by step. Beginners train with control and at their own pace.
Do I need a gi for Luta Livre?
No. Luta Livre is trained in shorts and a rash guard or a tight-fitting sports shirt.
Can I combine Luta Livre with BJJ?
Yes, and many of our students do exactly that. The two styles complement each other perfectly – especially for No-Gi and MMA.
